GoodVision Live Traffic Now Runs Directly on Axis Deep Learning Cameras

GoodVision is now an official Axis Technology Integration Partner, and GoodVision Live Traffic runs directly on Axis cameras with on-device deep learning.

That means the analysis can now happen inside the camera itself. No roadside server, no separate processing box, no extra unit to mount and wire in. You point a supported Axis camera at an intersection or a corridor, and it starts detecting, classifying, and tracking vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians on its own.

This is a new deployment option, not a replacement for existing ones. Live Traffic running on a GoodVision-recommended edge appliance or server from our hardware partners, against any standard IP camera, works exactly as it does today and remains fully supported. On-device deep learning on Axis hardware is the next step in how Live Traffic can be deployed, for teams who want to run it without adding any separate hardware at all.

What Changes for You

Most video analytics setups need a camera plus a separate box to run the AI. That extra box is one more thing to power, mount, and maintain at the roadside. Depending on your site, that tradeoff might be exactly what you want, or it might be one thing too many.

Running Live Traffic on Axis's on-device deep learning hardware gives you the option to skip that step. The camera's built-in processor (Axis's ARTPEC silicon) does the work, and the camera sends structured traffic data straight to your systems, not raw video.

That data is up to 1,000x smaller than the video it comes from, so a whole network of cameras can report continuously without straining your bandwidth. Alerts reach your systems in under a second, and turning movement counts and classifications hold at 95 to 100% accuracy.

Deployment Options, Now Including On-Device

Live Traffic already runs on a GoodVision-recommended edge appliance from our hardware partners, a customer-owned server, or any compatible GPU box, against any standard IP camera. Axis on-device deep learning cameras add a third path alongside those, for sites where you would rather not add hardware at all.

Once running on Axis hardware, there are two ways to operate it:

Connected to GoodVision. Cameras send data to the GoodVision platform, so your full network comes together in one place: history, cross-camera analysis, dashboards, reports, and the Safety Suite. The camera connects out on its own, so there is nothing to expose on the public internet.

Standalone, managed on site. A camera runs entirely on its own, with no connection to GoodVision, feeding data straight into your own systems. This suits remote sites, isolated networks, or locations with strict rules on where data can go.

Either way, if the connection drops, the camera keeps counting and catches up once the link returns.
